BANDS AND PROJECTS
Dale Tippett,Jr with Tin Lolita by Joe Lanzerotti
Dale Tippett, Jr., a Chicago native, and veteran performer of many styles of music. His self-titled solo project, Dale Tippett, Jr features his backup band,Tin Lolita, which is comprised of his long-time friends Ezra Lange on bass and Agustin Jaramillo on drums. Together they perform Dale’s original material, which is best described as “bluesy rock music, peppered with jazz influence”. Some of Dale’s music, like the gritty Back for More, invoke a deep Chicago Blues sound, while the others, like That Dress, showcase Dale’s guitar work in a super-slick, jazzier setting.
Dale Tippett, Jr featuring Tin Lolita made their debut performance at the Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville over the Summer of 2012. Since then, they’ve made appearances at Davenport’s, Six Corners BBQ Fest as a Northwest Arts Connection artist, Norwood Park’s National Night Out Against Crime community event in cooperation with the CAPS program, and a fundraiser with Jazz singer Frieda Lee at the Patio Theater in Portage Park. Most recently, Dale Tippett, Jr has released an album of jazzy/blues arrangements of holiday favorites, some of which may be previewed at DaleTippettJr.com
Dale was inducted this past year into the 2013 Chicago Filipino American Hall of Fame for Excellence in Music, and has enjoyed backing up Eddie Taylor Jr at Buddy Guys’ Legends in Chicago.
